The 1st Annual GO FLY INVITATIONAL golf tournament is created by Kay Fisher Meyers, Mike Fisher, and me, Roger Fisher, to honor our father Hank Fisher, and our mother, Sylvia Ora Fisher. John Hoetmer was Sand Point Country Club’s first golf pro. He loved our dad, and would wake him up very early in the morning and drive him to Sand Point for a typical day’s caddy work: carrying bags for two men, 36 holes. Dad ended up owning John’s golf clubs. When our dad passed away in 2005 - of our mom and dad’s possessions, the only thing I wanted was our dad’s golf clubs. I inherited them, and in 2020, decided their best home would be SPCC. Sand Point let me keep the 2-iron so dad would always be on the course with me. Shortly before Hank died, we had a large family get-together where dad generously gave his children, Kay, Mike and I, as well as his 16 grandchildren, gifts of inheritance. No one in the family knew that, though he was a carpenter all his life, he and mom, being frugal, had accumulated quite a savings! Our dad’s final parting “pearls of wisdom” words to his family were, “GO FLY!” Each of us has, in our own way, made it our personal goal to “Go Fly,” and it is our intention to keep our mom and dad’s “Go Fly" legacy alive for our Fisher Family for generations to come!
Hope to see you there!
