Charles

Hospice of Seattle

Charles King grew up in Sunnyvale California. A couple years after his parents divorced he started living on the streets. He was about 14 years old and remained homeless until early 2019. After being diagnosed with heart failure and given only 6 months to live, he moved from Harborview to Plymouth Housing, where he began receiving Hospice Care from Providence. Charles led a rough life before coming to Plymouth Housing and one of his goals was to do some good in the world before he died.

Charles' life turned around thanks to the help from his hospice nurse, Laura (pictured on left). He was estranged from his daughter and ex-wife, until Laura helped him reconnect with them. He was pleased to help Providence with fundraising efforts and was featured in the 2019 Fund-A-Need video for the Providence O'Christmas Trees Gala Dinner & Auction.

He was a lover of life and was proud of the amends he made before he died in December 2019.
